Keeping Up With Cass – December 2022

Goodbye 2022

Update:

December is always a wild month!
We started the month in sunny Florida, which was a nice change up after being in such a funk. After finding out about baby, we moved our annual Christmas/New Years trip from Curacao to Florida (it’s easier in case we have to head home early), so instead of being on the white sandy beaches in Curacao drinking unlimited margaritas, we are currently back in Florida for the week and while its not the same, it’s been nice to be able to hangout in the sunshine & take a break from the snow.
Since I wasn’t working I had quite a lot of time to just chill and get things together for Christmas. I didn’t end up doing any solo baking this year except for a quick batch of brownie. But i did join his mom & sisters for a baking day, which ended up being super fun, we spent the day baking & decorating sugar cookies & gingerbread cookies. I did spend quite a little bit of time with my mom, finishing up the last of our Christmas shopping & helping her with hers & just spending some girl time together.
My mom & I did make it down to the Fairmont Royal York for lunch & we checked out their amazing Christmas decorations. We always want to do this but it’s hard on the weekends cause everyone heads to Toronto to check out the holiday decor / visit the christmas markets / do their shopping, so it was nice to be able to go during the week.
We always have a jam packed Christmas. We spend Christmas Eve with my family. This year we had Christmas at the cottage with my family. Drove home on Christmas morning, had a mini Christmas just ‘P’ & I, then headed over to his parents for Christmas with his family. I found this Christmas to be super special (not as special as next year obviously), I was trying to bask in the moment, knowing that this is the last Christmas just the two of us.
Other than that, I got all our wedding Thank You cards in the mail before Christmas which was one more thing checked off my to-do list / I just kept putting it off and wanted them out before the end of the year.

Fitness:

Obviously i’ve had to really change things up post finding out i’m pregnant / just being super sick & having no energy. This past month I’ve felt amazing which is a really nice change. I’ve been walking on my little walking pad almost everyday that ‘P’ bought me for my birthday, this thing is a lifesaver since it’s been super cold & my winter jackets officially stopped fitting. As much as I would have given a limb for a treadmill, our basement ceiling is too low & this is a really good alternative. I’ve also started doing pre-natal yoga once (sometimes twice) a week & attempting to do 2 – 3 days of weights just to keep some strength!

Pregnancy & Baby:

If you missed it, I shared a few weeks ago that I’m pregnant & we are expecting! You can read that here. Our little family of 2 is going to be a family of 3 real soon, and it feels so nice to not have to keep this secret anymore. Baby Girl is now officially the size of a corn on the cobb and I am now 24 weeks pregnant which feels so crazy to write. I feel like I have now been pregnant forever.

Now that the new year is around the corner, we are really gearing up to get everything ready! The guest bedroom is officially in slow transition to become Baby Girl’s nursery, which is making things feel so much more real now. I have also been slowly putting together my baby registry for the baby shower, which is now slowly right around the corner!
