I didn’t think I would be saying this, but this morning I went to morning Mass at the local Catholic Church & even joined the parish.

I’ve been saying for years, that I wanted to start going again, but was always discouraged because I didn’t want to go alone. However, ‘P’ really wants to be married in a church, & the only way to do that is to be approved basically. And since we pretty well want to put serious roots down where we are living it made sense to join. So I took the initiative & went to Friday morning Mass this morning. Let’s just say I loved it.

I was a little disoriented at first, since I’ve never been to this church before but I met a lady outside & she graciously walked in with me, showed me where to sign in, etc. Which was super helpful & made me feel more at ease. Mass started & it was good, I was thrown off by the fact that they changed responses & hymn’s & all that. So I just need to brush up on my stuff. Mass happened to be only 30 minutes long, online it said it was 8am-9am, so I was shocked but in a good way & prayed really hard to make up for the fact that it has been a long, long time since I last stepped into a church for Mass.
Post Mass, the same lady & I bumped into each other, & she gave me a tour of the church & yes, even introduced me to the priest. She is a 8am regular, so i’m sure i’ll bump into her again! She made the experience that much more enjoyable.

Overall, was today daunting, yes. But I had a good morning & really am looking forward to going to more Masses & being more involved within the Parish & getting to know my community.
