Keeping Up With Cass – April 2021

Well April has come & gone, just not as quickly as I would have liked.

Life:

So where to begin, we started April with yet another lockdown/shutdown here in Ontario, so leaving the house for anything other than groceries & walks wasn’t allowed.
We also started the month with the Easter long-weekend. It was nice to have the Friday & Monday clear with no meetings, so I just used those days to catch up & get ahead on some social media stuff. Easter was nice, despite the lockdown starting that weekend. I was able to see my grandparents & unplug. We also saw ‘P’s family, so we had lots of family time which was welcome.
Thanks to the Ontario Lockdown & all the restrictions, not only was I working from home, but ‘P’ also got to work from home a few days a week. So with that both of us stayed up at the cottage more often. We had a little extra space on the days we were both working at home which was definitely more bare-able. But this only lead to us realizing we need more space & had us starting to look at houses. We did put an offer in on one house we loved, but it didn’t pan out. Otherwise nothing concrete is happening on this front, but we have slowly started to look & just keeping our eyes on the areas we are interesting in living in. Just keeping my fingers crossed over here that something materializes before the end of the year!
Condo wise: ‘P’s brother in law came by & switched some light fixtures which was amazing, we now have lights above the kitchen island that we can clean easily. We also cleaned up the patio & ordered some planters so that we can make it a little more of an oasis, we’re just waiting on those to come in, but I’m excited to plant a few things!
Reading: I did get some serious reading done, which was really nice. I am still on track to now surpass my reading goal which I am super excited. I also decided to make a tik tok with the books I read last month because I was totally bored & it was kind of fun.
Fitness wise: I did share a quick little review on the at-home program I completed. I haven’t started anything new yet but I am planning on starting doing a 6 week summer challenge that starts Monday which will keep me motivated.  In general, I am trying to incorporate riding the bike/walks daily & have been adding yoga or pilates in as well, which has felt really good. I am feeling really good about where I am at fitness wise, however I am totally missing the gym more than ever these days.
I have been wearing my Whoop band for over a month now & it has given me a whole new look at how I sleep, recover & just how much energy I use during the day. This has been a total game changer for me, & I really have found that it has helped me prioritize rest days & how I train! I keep planning on writing something, so that’ll come soon hopefully. Work:

Work has been going good. I have mainly been working on social media posts, getting the founders on podcasts/interviews, and just handling the marketing in general. I have finally started getting into the second part of my job as well, which is partnerships / business development & it has added a whole lot more to my plate, but has also required lots of learning. It’s been crazy in a good way you could say. My work laptop also came in finally, so I had to transition everything over & get used to a non-mac, I didn’t realize how tough that would be.

I also started a volunteer position this past month, my role is the communications lead, which basically has me overseeing their marketing & pr team, making sure they get things done & crossed off the teams to-do lists. It has panned out to be more work than described, but it’s only bee 2 weeks so I know that I’m just overwhelmed with learning all I can. But soon i’ll hopefully be in a routine & it won’t be too overwhelming. But it is a nice addition to my resume that’s for sure.
