Let The Condo Hunt Begin

Happy Sunday!

It’s official!  I am currently on my way to becoming an actual adult (or so i’d like to think).

I have taken the first official steps to adulthood & finally started looking at condos in the hopes of finding something I can make my own space (again).

Do not get me wrong, I love being in such close proximity to my family (sometimes). But I went from living on my own for a few years at university to moving back in with my family. It was a shell shock. To say the least we finally got used to it. But after almost three years of being back under my parents roof, I really feel the need to find my own space & live my own life again. Lets just say this is really helping me save up & budget my spending like crazy these last few months.

I finally took a leap & have now seen a few places in person, & I am somehow falling in love with each & every one of these places! I might only be starting my search but my oh my I have my work cut out for me!

If you have any tips or suggestions on condo searching or tips for new home buyers, I would love to hear them!

Thanks for reading

  1. Ah congrats on the search! I’m still living at home with my parents, and it’s not really all that bad, considering my mom cooks and does my laundry haha. I’m using it as an opportunity to save up so I can eventually move out, so at the moment, I don’t have any words of wisdom haha.

One of my friends might look into buying a little house next year and I might be her roommate if everything works out. I don’t think I could live on my own because I watch too many crime shows, but I wouldn’t mind having a roommate, especially if it’s a friend. I told her I’d go look at houses with her, so we’ll see what happens!

    • Thanks Love. It’s so nerve racking. I swear i’ve just gotten so comfortable living at home that i’ll have some sort of melt down once I leave. But thats lucky, my mom is amazing & cooks enough dinner for the 3 of us, I do my own laundry so I swear I only do it every few weeks when the pile starts to flow over the side of my basket…..

But that’s awesome, hopefully you’ll be able to room with her. It’s always so fun being able to live with your girls!

      • It’ll definitely be an adjustment when you leave. I cooked and did my own laundry when I lived at college, so I can fend for myself but my mom has her whole routine and I wouldn’t want to throw her off that haha.

If anything happens next year, I’ll have to keep you updated!

  2. Congratulations Cass! Don’t be nervous. Don’t worry. I have advice for you….via Nike: “Just Do It!”

I’ve been there and done that. I can’t believe you’ve made it 3 years at home with parents after school. I did it for one year and it was probably the worst/hardest year of my life. I got home after living that single life at U of Illinois and then all of a sudden I had to live by my dad’s rules again. It was kinda tough. I recall one time I went out on a Saturday night and got back at about 6 am on Sunday morning. My dad was all dressed up in a suit and tie and having breakfast before church. He was all, “Glad you made it home in time for church.”

Anyway, I worked for 9 months, saved up for a car, bought one, then forced the issue to get out. My parents are/were great. It’s just that the dynamic is difficult. You need to get out and spread your wings. So at age 24, I forced a buddy to get an apartment with me, signed the lease, met my (now) wife, lived with him for a year, got married, moved and settled down all very fast. Best thing I ever did.

So my advice is, just dive in and you’ll learn how to swim. Sure you might worry about drowning but if you’re under for too long someone will save you. But don’t worry, because you know how to swim already.

    Good luck Cass!
