Hey Ya’ll
I am 100% recuperated & back from the dead…
Concert season in Ontario is in full swing! Lucky for me, I just got back from Boots & Hearts Country Music Festival or as many festival goers refer to it as ‘a four day drunk fest’. This was my 6th year attending (its only been going on for 7 years) & I am announcing my retirement from this festival, heart breaking I know. But the attendees are getting younger & younger every year, & we can’t handle four days straight of drinking like we used to.
This year, we attended with some of our friends, had three campsites in a row (we had a serious set up). We packed great food for the weekend, which actually lasted & we actually survived camping yet again. I am going to keep this short & sweet because I not only basically drank for 4 days straight but there really isn’t much to tell other than: stay hydrated, drink responsibly & dance your little heart out. To make this weekend even better, I lost my voice on Thursday (day 1) & have yet to get it back….
Day 1: we arrived on the Thursday, cracked a few cold ones & then got setting up. That evening there is a ‘Kick-Off Party’ which is basically newer country bands doing a lot of covers, starting the weekend off. Lucky for me, one of my favourite bands that I have been following for the past few years performed, Blackjack Billy, go check em out if you like country rock. You can bet your bottom dollar I was on cloud nine.
Day 2-3: I’m mushing these days together because we basically woke up & started drinking, visited some friends/hung out at the campsite & watched the concerts in the evening. We also went to the late night dance party every night & danced our hearts out even more.
Day 4: Sunday Funday, am I right? Kidding, we took it slower that morning. Started the drinking around 11 am, we ended up making a slip & slide (Boots & Hearts Photographers actually came by to take pictures & feature us at some point during the year), we also made a pool in the bed of one of the trucks (it was so hot it turned into a gross hot tub) & had some fun as the day went on before packing up a little & heading to the final night of concerts. Again, we hit the late night dance party.
Day 5: Monday is known as your sleep day to recover. I can successfully say I was not hungover just exhausted.. I took at least 4 naps throughout the day before getting back to work today.. Whoops
Here are some pg pictures (sorry ya’ll my mom reads my blog posts)
Here’s to another successful boot stomping, liver killing year at Boots & Hearts!
We will just have to wait & see if this retirement I mentioned actually happens.
xo cd
Wow! That is some kinda party. Looks super fun. Good luck recovering.
